In Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services (SSAS), a dimension attribute can have a set of related attributes that depend on the dimension attribute. If you use a dimension attribute with related attributes to construct a level in a hierarchy, the related attributes are called member properties. These properties provide additional data to members within the level.
Level properties differ from member properties in that level properties contain the names and metadata associated with the member properties available on the members within that level, while member properties contain the actual data.
