Copy Database Wizard (Location of Source Database Files)

If the source and destination server instances are on different computers, you must specify a file system share that contains the database files on the source server.

This page is visible only when you are using the detach-and-attach transfer method.

Options

• Database
  Displays the name of each database being moved.

• Folder ___location
  Specify the ___location of the database files on the source server file system.

  For example: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA

• File share on source server
  Specify the file share path of the source database files. These files must be accessible from the destination server.

  For example: "\\server_name\C$\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data

  To use the Select shared network path dialog box, click the ellipsis button (...).

• Next
  When Next is clicked, the following validations occur:

  • Share name is empty.
  • Specified drive letter is not valid.
  • Illegal characters in path.
