E-mail notifications include event messages that detail the success or failure of a particular project. You can configure both server-level and project-level e-mail notification. At the server level, you specify the recipient addresses that e-mail should be sent for every project involving that server. At the project level, you specify the recipient addresses that e-mail will be sent to for the project.
Note
E-mail notification is supported by anonymous SMTP only.
Server-level E-mail Notification
Setting the e-mail option on your server results in e-mail being sent to the recipients you specify for all projects involving that server. The e-mail is sent to the recipients you specify to keep them apprised of project status. A server can send e-mail when event messages are generated that fit into these three categories:
If deployment fails. Send a notification to the specified e-mail address to receive notifications when a staging project fails.
After deployment succeeds. Send a notification to the specified e-mail address to receive notifications when a staging project succeeds.
Always. Always send a notification to the specified e-mail address to receive notifications when a staging project succeeds or fails.
If you want to exercise more precise control over the e-mail that is being sent, you can specify exactly which success or failure event messages to include in the e-mail. For a list of event messages available for selection, see Event Codes for Staging.
Project-level E-mail Notification
Project e-mail includes event messages that detail the success or failure of a particular project. The same options described earlier for server-level e-mail notification are used for project-level e-mail notification.
These event messages are generated by the CSS server. You can determine who will receive the project e-mail and when the mail should be sent. For example, you can select to have the server send project e-mail only when a replication is successful or only when it fails. You can easily send e-mail to multiple recipients by listing the e-mail address of each.
Project e-mail notifications are sent in addition to server e-mail. Therefore, you will probably want to specify different recipients.
