Our managed Postgres database has been in an 'updating' state for multiple days without any changes from our side.

The database seems to continually encounter an unplanned failover.

    Hi Jon Foss Mikalsen

Thanks for using the Q&A platform.

A PostgreSQL database in Azure stuck in an "updating" state with repeated unplanned failovers usually indicates an underlying issue on the platform side, the update process, or a maintenance operation.

Kindly find a similar thread and recommended steps to try to resolve the issue:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/2101276/the-server-is-in-updating-state-for-too-long-for-a

If the issue persists after the above steps, consider opening a support request with Azure Support. They can investigate potential backend problems that may prevent the database from exiting the updating state.

If the response was helpful, please feel free to mark it as “Accepted Answer” and consider giving it an upvote. This helps others in the community as well.

    Regards,

    Obinna.
